Before you start

Reddit communities value genuine, useful sharing and don't welcome hard ads or pretense. So the most effective and safest way to promote here is to take part honestly as a founder or creator, sharing your real experience with a product: how it helped you solve something while building your own project, or what works and what falls short after actually using it.

Every step below is about how to do the discussion well.

First, which case are you in?

• You already have a Reddit account in regular use (some karma, which is Reddit's reputation score; registered for a while): in Step 1 you only need to pick communities and think through what you can talk about, you can skip Step 2, and focus on Steps 3 and 4.
• You're using a new account: go through all four steps, and don't skip Step 2, a new account needs time to settle into the community first.

Step 1: Take part as your real self

Use your own everyday account and take part as an individual; being your real self reads the most naturally and holds up best.

• Account (new ones): just pick a normal name, you're here as an individual joining the discussion.
• Pick communities: from the ones recommended for the campaign, choose 2 to 3 subs (Reddit's communities) you're genuinely interested in and can talk about, as your long-term places to participate. Read each one's rules (tap about → rules on the community page), note the posting thresholds (karma, account age) and its self-promotion policy, and follow them closely.
• Think through what you can talk about: pick 2 to 4 topics you have real experience with and can go deep on. Someone with a consistent focus gets remembered and trusted.

Step 2: Settle into the community first (especially for new accounts)

Most subs require an account to be 14+ days old with some karma before you can post. The point of that threshold is to have newcomers genuinely take part and get familiar first, rather than registering and immediately promoting.

For the first two weeks, do just one thing: post genuinely helpful comments on topics you know, without mentioning any product or dropping links. The point is to get familiar with each community's feel and habits.

• 1 to 2 comments per sub per day, no more than 10 a day total.
• Once you've built some real interaction in the community and the account has cleared the threshold, start posting content related to the product you're promoting.

Step 3: Join discussions and share when it fits (your daily core)

Two ways: reply in discussions where you fit, and post yourself. Both come down to whether it's useful to the people reading.

• Join discussions: reply on posts where you can genuinely help. Pick ones that are still active, where someone is asking a question or looking for advice, so your reply reaches them in time and actually helps. Once a post already has thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments and the discussion has wound down, there's little point jumping in.

  Watch a community's Rising feed and look for these kinds of posts:

  What to look at	Notes
  Post age	Newer posts (under an hour is best), discussion just picking up
  Momentum	Upvotes and comments still climbing, so the topic is active
  Title	Someone asking, seeking advice, or deciding ("how do I," "any recommendations," "which should I pick")

  Before replying, glance at the existing top answers, don't repeat them, and add a new, useful angle. Most posts you won't need to reply to, and that's fine; speak up when you have something real to say.

• Post yourself: in a fitting community, share a real experience, a question, or a method the way you normally would, not something that reads as an ad. Follow that community's posting and promotion rules closely. At most 2 posts per sub, no flooding.
